Alexander DePew
Research Director
Alexander DePew earned his MPS degree in Aquaculture from the University of Miami. While earning his degree he worked at the University of Miami Experimental Hatchery, there he worked on the conditioning, spawning, and rearing of a variety of marine species such as Cobia, Nassau grouper, Red Snapper, Hogfish, Mahi-mahi, Tripletail, and Olive Flounder.
Before joining MRC Fisheries, Alexander helped develop a marine finfish aquaculture program at the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience at the University of Florida as the Hatchery Manager under Dr. Ibarra. While at Whitney Laboratory he helped rear Northern red snapper juveniles and planned future experimental trials with Common Snook, Spotted Sea Trout, and Red Drum for commercial viability and stock enhancement purposes.
Now as part of the team at MRC Fisheries, his goals are to develop new marine aquaculture species and their viability for commercial applications.
Nicholas Adams
Facility Manager
Nicholas Adams earned his M.S. from University of Southern Mississippi, as well as an Aquaculture Certification from Gadsden State Community College.
In the field of aquaculture, he looks to combine his work experience in both Fisheries Management and Laboratory techniques to further the future in the commercial aquaculture of fish and invertebrate species. He values hard work, team attitude and positive energy to push the research and development of commercial aquaculture candidate species.
The research that we do at MRC Fisheries LLC. stimulates his need to fully understand the ecology, biology, and water quality requirements of every species that MRC works on.
